What we collect

Nothing.

We do not collect personal information, usage statistics, crash reports, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Because we collect nothing, there is no data for us to sell, share, or hand over.

Where your data lives

Your folders, entries, favourites, and settings are stored in a database on your device.

We cannot read them. We cannot recover them for you if they are lost.

The keyboard

copipi includes a custom keyboard so you can insert your saved text into other apps.

The keyboard does not record, collect, or transmit what you type.

• It reads only the entries you saved in copipi.
• It writes only the entry you tap.
• It has no network access and sends nothing anywhere.
• It does not log keystrokes or capture screen contents. On Android it reads the current cursor position when you use the space-bar cursor gesture, so it knows where to move the cursor. That position is used immediately and is not stored.

When you enable any third-party keyboard, your phone shows a warning that keyboards are technically capable of collecting what you type. That warning appears for every third-party keyboard. It is not a statement about what copipi actually does.

On iOS, the keyboard runs without “Full Access”. On Android, it runs inside the app itself and holds no internet permission for this purpose.

Sync and backup

We do not run a sync service. Both platforms offer their own, operated by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

iOS

• iCloud Sync — if iCloud is enabled on your device, your entries sync through your own iCloud account. The data goes to Apple, not to us. We cannot see it. You can turn this off in your device settings.

Android

• Android Auto Backup — the operating system may copy a backup file of your entries into your own Google Drive, so your data can be restored when you set up a new device. This is handled by Android, and the data goes to Google, not to us. You can turn it off in your device’s backup settings.

Both

• Export and import — you can save your entries to a file and read them back. The file goes wherever you choose. We never see it.

Subscriptions

copipi Pro is an optional subscription.

• On iOS, payment is handled by Apple through the App Store.
• On Android, payment is handled by Google through Google Play.

We never receive or store your payment details. We only learn whether a subscription is currently active, and that check happens between your device and the store — it does not pass through us.

Features that touch the operating system

These features hand limited data to your device’s operating system so it can show it to you. None of it reaches us.

iOS only

• Spotlight search — the titles of your entries are added to your device’s Spotlight index so you can find them from the home screen. The body text is not indexed. Entries without a title are not indexed. The index stays on your device.
• Widgets and Control Centre — a copy of your entries is stored in a shared area of the app so the widget can display them. This stays on your device.
• Siri and Shortcuts — entry titles are offered to the Shortcuts app so you can build automations. This stays on your device.
• Share Sheet — text you share into copipi from another app is saved as an entry on your device.
• Clipboard — tapping an entry copies it to your device’s clipboard.

Android only

• Clipboard — tapping an entry copies it to your device’s clipboard. On Android 13 and later, the system briefly shows what was copied. That display is produced by Android, not by copipi.

The Android version does not include widgets, Spotlight-style indexing, Siri or Assistant integration, or a share extension.

What copipi does not use

• No third-party analytics services
• No advertising or advertising SDKs
• No behavioural tracking or profiling
• No external data collection tools
• No cookies (the app has no web content)

Offline use

Every core feature works with no internet connection: creating, editing, searching, copying, and inserting entries with the keyboard.

An internet connection is used only for:

• iCloud Sync (iOS) or Android Auto Backup, if you have them on;
• checking your subscription with the App Store or Google Play;
• opening the help page or this policy in your browser.

Children

copipi is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since we collect nothing at all, this applies to every user.

Your choices

• Stop syncing — turn off iCloud (iOS) or Android backup in your device settings.
• Take your data out — export to a file from Settings.
• Delete everything — delete the app. Your entries are removed with it. If you had sync or backup enabled, remove the copy held by Apple or Google through their own settings.
• Cancel a subscription — through your App Store or Google Play account.

Because we hold nothing about you, there is no account for us to delete and no data for us to return.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
